Using a lower octane rating will cause the engine computer to retard the timing to eliminate predetonation (or what a lot of people call pinging).   Thank you for your post and your link. I disengaged the HFL and the car had no more problems starting at all. Even if unused for 2weeks! The dealership should have done this for us or at least not charged us $300 between battery and cable changes. Thanks again.

  Don't be so quick to spend the money for a new DRD player. I upgraded to a new disk once and it started doing the same thing as yours. I sent the disk back for a refund(not worth the cost anyway). The dealer cleared the memory and reloaded the old program and we lived happily everafter.

  You will need to replace the navigation DVD rom I'n the trunk they go bad and then the problem gets worst you can find them on eBay 2007-2008 are the same and will solve your problem

  Any solutions to this problem? I have a 2007 TL, with current Navigation disk in place, and still experience this exact problem -- somewhere in the 2-to-2.5 hour range, the navigation system freezes, and the only way to regain active navigation and access to the audio system is to re-start the engine. Of course it's ridiculous.

  I am in agreement that this HFL needs to become a class action suit of some kind. My HFL was out of service at 56,000 miles and is very expensive to replace. I consider this a defective part.   Can't. I have a 2007 TLS w/Navi and the only way is Aux input. I think Acura may sell an adapter for the ipod but it's like $180. Ask your Acura service dept.

  Well ... Acura is no Honda Accord. I currently own two Acuras a 2007 TLS and a 2010 TSX v6 w/Tech. They are worth every penny. No other car manufacturor can come close to reliability, resale, styling and value.. PERIOD! Just food for thought ..Retail for an 2008 TL w/Nav 15K mil is 33K per Kelly Blue Book. I had the car parked in the garage for a week at Christmas time when we had below freezing temperatures for almost a week and some snow and had no problem starting the TL after a week.   Probably the best deal you can get is on a pre-owned Certified Acura TL. You get an addtional year of warranty , you are not getting a car that has been in a wreck, and the interest rate on the loan is low. BMW and TL are such different cars, mainly because the BMW is rear wheel drive and I suppose more "prestigious" to drive.

  I have a 2007 TLS with 53K problem free miles. Excellent car all the way around. Always getting plenty of compliments. I ordered it with an A-Spec Package with Acura Ground Kit. Purchased new and will be holding onto until the new Type S comes out... I hope! Car is FAST and handles very well for a sedan.
