Acura TL Prices Paid and Buying Experience
Price Paid 2009 Acura TL Tech Package
Austin TX area dealer. Price Paid: $36,500 + $400 + TTL in a few extras that I didn't have the guts to negotiate off after arriving (finally) at the $36,500 price. I believe the $400 included a trunk tray/liner, 4 wheel locks, something else that I cant remember now, that wasn't terribly substantial. There was a trade involved. 2003 Merc CLK500 for $15,000 credit. ... Read More...
Acura TL Electrical System Questions and Issues
2003 Acura 3.2 TL Headlight condensation
The assembly with working lights came to $1200+. I see nothing wrong with the old assembly and would like to tell the dealer to take it back and give me a refund for it. They can install it in someone else's car at a discounted price. The real issue is whether they had to use a new assembly at all? If they had just installed the lights which were burned out, and made sure ... Read More...

2003 Acura 3.2 TL-S Headlight condensation
Moisture got into headlight. Dealer said entire unit had to be replaced. Cost $1200+. I think original assembly was fine after inspecting it for cracks, holes. Moisture may have entered from back of headlight assembly from bulb insert location which is usually sealed by gasket after reinserting light. Acura, Stanley (who made light assembly) and dealer told ... Read More...
On my third 2003 TL Transmission
I noticed a post from a few days ago bashing honda in that their transmissions fail in 30k miles or less. For a while there, that was pretty much my experience . I had transmission failures at 19,000 and 61,000. I had a couple minor problems between that but I am proud to say at 101,000 miles nothing at all has gone wrong in the last 40,000. Although I was not a happy camper ... Read More...
Re: Acura should call it quits. [bodble2]
I do not disagree that the quality of Acura or Honda cars has been slipping in recent years. But I guess you also do not disagree that their quality is still better than many brands. Cars are getting more complex these days, as manufacturers try to jam many more electronic, mechanical and computer-related gizmos into the car. Thus, the chances of having some of ... Read More...
Re: Acura should call it quits. [dvsutton]
'Tis a shame that you have had such issues. But, from my experience, your experience (and the poor tortured souls you have had to spend so much time with at the dealer...) are atypical. My family has owned Honda products since the mid '70s, I can't recall a single issue of note. More recently, since 2003, my father has owned 2 TLs, my brother an MDX and an RDX (and now ... Re: Acura should call it quits. [kennyg8]
If you think a Honda/Acura transmission needs to be replaced every 30k miles, you have not driven or owned a Honda/Acura. Honda had real problem with transmission in 2001-2003. 2009 TL looks ugly and too big. I think sales of TL will drop a lot. My girlfriend saw it on the road and think that it is new Saturn model. Re: Transmission Repair - 1999 TL, 77K miles questions [shiva70]
Hello, The "good will" phrase is just a concept -- not a clause in anything official. However, in order to even discuss thit with Acura, they need to diagnose your car as needing a new transmission and at your VIN number makes your car a member of the class that the suit was all about. So far I haven't had much luck since it's 1 year and 9 months out of the extended warranty. ... Read More...
