thanks for the detailed info. I temporarily will use a FM transmitter to listen from iPhone when driving. Acura doesn't have any new stereo available for 01 TL, and for the same 01 TL stereo that I am trying to replace but not able to, they are selling as part with listing price of $850.!!! It's unusual but the car stereo guy's right...more or less. The factory sub is powered by the factory external amp located behind the passenger side front kick panel. Unless you know about electronics and aren't experieced in it I would suggest not spending the time to attempt wiring anything into that factory amp. Nothing is marked on it and it's difficult to ... I am trying to by a new car stereo (with iPod, Bluetooth, USB) to replace the existing Acura stereo. however it seems Acura has proprietary control and " If the factory radio is replaced, the factory sub will no longer work." - this is what the supplier of new car stereo says. unless I replace it with a new sub which is too much trouble. any suggestion ? thanks Read More...

I have owned a 2001 TL, a 2005 TL and this last October I bought a 2008 TL TYPE-S & love it!!! Of course it is better than the '01 and it even tops the '05. The Type-S is black on black and I bought after market 18" wheels & Ecsta ASX tires & it handles like a dream especially with the stability control system. 16 " rims will not fit on 04-08 Acura TL. We had OEM 2001 Acura TL extra rims with mounted snow tires and I checked to see if these would fit our 2004 TL and they won't. Calipers in front interfere. Need minimum 17". We bought 4 extra alloy rims from Tire Rack with mounted snow tires for the 04 TL. The snow tires are 50 series rather than 45 series for smaller footprint in ... Read More...

I have been shopping around Northern NJ to buy a new TL/Tech. I am happy with the price of the car - Negotiated to under 35,900 (Sticker 39,400) but I am unhappy with my trade-in amount. 2001 TL 3.2 w/ 98,000. I was offered under 6,000. I drove the TSX first. Very nice but between the TSX-Tech (I just want the 6 disc changer) and the TL - nonTech (I don't need Nav) it is only a $3,000 diff. I liked them both. The TL has lots of power that comes on easily and more room. The TSX will move but the engine's RPM soars and it gets a bit loud. I found I preferred the TSX dashboard; more storage, easier to reach things. ... Read More...

If you think a Honda/Acura transmission needs to be replaced every 30k miles, you have not driven or owned a Honda/Acura. Honda had real problem with transmission in 2001-2003. 2009 TL looks ugly and too big. I think sales of TL will drop a lot. My girlfriend saw it on the road and think that it is new Saturn model. Count me in on the disappointed crowd. I'm a big Honda/Acura fan, but really don't like the new TL much at all...maybe it will grow on me? Shouldn't have to for a $30k+ car! On the other hand, I like the new TSX. The slight up-sizing doesn't bother me on that one, and the interior is great...if it only had a bit more power.
