Okay everybody... Here are the true sales stats for the TL from Acura: 1999 = 56,566 2000 2G = 67,033 2001 = 69,484 2002 = 60,764 2003 = 56,770 2004 3G = 77,895 2005 = 78,218 2006 = 71,348 2007 = 58,545 2008 = 48,766 2009 4G = 33,620 Looks like the new redesign 3G in 2004 is more than double the sales of the current TL 4G. Numbers don't lie. ... Read More

New TSX commercial
Written by: rlonn1 on Jul 21, 2010 8:59:23 PM
I am sure many of you have seen the new TSX commercial where they have a room filled with car engines all running surrounding a canary in a bird cage. Then they turn on the Audio Noise Canceling speakers to show you how quiet it becomes. I know this first hand as my wife has a 2009 TSX, and it works like a bose noise canceling earphones, same principle! I am ... Read More

I wholeheartedly agree, rlonn1. I also owned a 2000 TL. It was a nice car for that time. My new TL SH-AWD is miles ahead of that car in every category. I am the type of person that does extensive research on any major purchase whether it is a smart phone, HDTV, or automobile. I spent many hours researching and test driving more than one dozen different vehicles including the Buick ... Read More

Re: 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD TECH w/ HPT deal [njalan]

yes, the internet ladies at Montclair and Bridgewater are both very nice, tho' the Bridgewater one was nicer. According to my CU printout, the model you are seeking invoice price is $40,489 including destination. Dealer incentive is as listed on this sheet 1000, and holdback 1297. I think this printout was just before the month the incentives changed to 2000 for all Techs. CU's 'bottom line' price is $38192. Stay strong, ... Read More

So basically they are pocketing the $2000 and the 2% dealer hold back. We are in the same boat, dealers here in Fairfiled and New Haven County CT are doing the same, they are not sharing any of the $2K available.

It has been over 24 hours since I sent an email to Open Road Acura of Wayne requesting a quote but have not received their response. Either the email address is wrong or they don't care. The manager at Open Road Acura of East Brunswick did offer invoice price less the $2000 incentive but it was still more than $1750 above the $35999 you paid for the same car. Thanks for ... Read More

After several months of inactivity (simply not looking) I am back in the hunt for either a 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD with Tech or an Infiniti G37X with similar options. Chasboy, thank you for sharing your purchasing experience with us. I live in central NJ. I am willing to go to any point in NJ to get the TL if the price is so attractive. Please provide the name and town ... Read More

Re: Used Acura TL.... [toby08]

As long as the car has been well maintained, I think you will be very happy with the 05 TL. My family has three TLs, including an 05, and has been very happy with all of them. In terms of reliability, the only serious problem I could imagine is with the transmission, but the 05 transmissions are supposedly much more reliable than those from 2000-2003.

Relax, it seems to me you bought yourself a nice car, not a nightmare. Let us know what the Acura dealer says. Let's assume the worst, and the transmission fails. Acura has extended the warranty on the transmissions on the 2000 - 2003 model years to 100,000 miles or 7 years, whichever comes first. Therefore, the bottom line is that your car is still covered and will be for a while ... Read More

2002 Acura TL-S (kingkhalas)

The new-for-2000 5-speed automatic was indeed problematic, but the good news is that Acura stepped up to the plate and replaced those that went bad under warranty. From what I know, the automatic transmission on the next generation TL ('04-'08) was reliable. My wife's '99 has the older 4-speed automatic, which, at 115,000 miles, has been trouble free. We also replaced the motor mounts, though, at about the same mileage as ... Read More

2002 Acura TL-S
Written by: kingkhalas on Jan 4, 2009 9:44:49 PM
I've got about 90K miles on my acura. I've had to replace the transmission twice (covered under warranty) and have also had a similar problem with a 2000 Honda Odyssey. I think Honda/Acura made some poor transmissions for these cars. Also recently had to replace the engine mounts ($$$) which I was told by a few acura places is a common problem. Overall, it's been a pretty good car, but the ... Read More
