Re: How does Acura TL handle in wintery conditions?? [gabenluke]
Tires are key for winter handling. My 2004 TL 6-speed came with the "HPT" summer tire package. You might as well put ice skates on the car. I switched to a high performance "all season" tire and, although they are better, the car still doesn't handle the snow as well as my old 1995 Maxima. The 17" wheels and low profile 235/45 tires on the TL are not conducive to winter ... Read More...

Re: 2003 TLS Automatic Transmission Problem [laurasdada]
I'd partly agree with you, but one rarely hears of major mechanical malfunctions with Acura's relative to the engines, suspension, etc. The automatic transmission is clearly one of the biggest bullets in their magazine. All the electronic toys are probably little bullets as well, given that our MDX has had the Nav unit replaced twice in under 3 years and 40k ... Read More...

Cerritos Acura buying experience 08'TL type-S
Hello Wanted to let everyone know about my experience at Cerritos Acura. One word, do NOT go to this dealership. If you can avoid it. Read through this if you intend on dealing with them. Its a long post, but I think its worthwhile for anyone who intends on getting a good deal and wants no lies and crap from the car salesmen. If after all your research, they do give you ... Re: common tires and brakes conditions ... [jefh]
Brake life can vary tremendously, as I learned yesterday. Our 2005 MDX at 37,000 miles, needed new pads around and needed to have the rotors refinished at a total cost of $750. That's about $350 more than I've spent in 155k miles on barkes for my 1995 Maxima. It needed new front pads at 90,000 miles and at 150,000 miles and new rears at 120,000 miles. The rotors have ... Zaino vs. Maguier's
I have heard great things about Zaino. But, as an alternative, I might suggest Maguire's Professional Wax (#26, I believe). I can do my 911 in under 60 minutes, start to finish, including the wash. On another note, one thing I am dissapointed in is the quality of paint finish on our Acuras (2004 TL Anthracite and 2005 MDX Sage). The finish is not as rich, deep or consistent ... Read More...
Re: pg48477 [thechief]
Ah, the Legend GS 6-speed. I bought a nearly new 1994 Legend GS 6-speed at a great price from a friend who was being transferred to Europe by his company. But then, after only 2 months in Europe, he got recalled to an even better promotion in the states. We were able to unravel the deal without paying sales taxes, so I gave the car back to him, and bought my 1995 Maxima ... Read More...
Re: 1996 Acura TL 2.5 [carbuyer29]
1) Ridiculous price. The private party value is between $4,500+/-, dealer retail $5,300+/- according to Edmunds. 2) Not that great of a car, IMO. Underpowered (funky 5 cylinder, 176 hp/170 ft lbs.). Boxy design. Doesn't handle particularly well. Think a similar vintage Accord EX for half the price is a much better value. 3) I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima SE 5-speed ... Read More...

Re: ELLPS Perceived Quality Rating - Poll [circlew]
I can't believe you asked a card carrying UAW member that question?? In any event, how about rather than rating perceptions (or in the case of Rocky, dilusions ;) ), we all rate the cars we have actually personally owned. My list would look like this: 1. Nissan (1995 Maxima SE) 2. Honda (2002 S2000) / Porsche (2005 911S) (tie) 4. Toyota (1983 Supra) 5. Acura (2004 ... Read More...

1. Nissan (1995 Maxima SE) 2. Honda (2002 S2000) / Porsche (2005 911S) (tie) 4. Toyota (1983 Supra) 5. Acura (2004 TL 6-speed) Perhaps Habitat needs to keep 04 TL to same amount of miles as his Max to see how it stacks up. Don't think that current Maxima is considered entry level lux perf, but I will add my 2 cents on it along with current gens Acuras. Have a 97 Maxima SE ... Read More...
Re: 2007 Acura TL vs. 2007 Infiniti G35 Sedan [bator1]
You're pretty much off base...unless you have seen a bunch of used 07 G's on a lot...doubtful. The redesign of the G, while slight on the outside, is about as radical as the redesign of the 03 TL to the 04 (Both of which I have owned...well leased). Back in o4 when I drove them both (Along with legacy), the TL had it..hands down. The situation is flip-flopped for 07...I'm ... Read More...
