RSX-S
Written by: beowulf7 on Nov 1, 2002 8:25:28 PM
rascallove, I have the 2002 Acura RSX Type-S. I've had it for over 5 months now and really love it. The Type-R spoiler I bought and installed gives it that extra sporty look. And the 200 HP is plenty sporty enough. preludexl, I think it's just you. If you think the Civic has a better ride than the RSX, then I think you might want to get a GM car, since ... Read More

There are NO major or minor differences between the 2002 and 2002 RSXs, except the following: 1.) MSRP is different (e.g. 2003 RSX-S is $100 more than 2002 model). 2.) Firepepper Red has been replaced by Redondo Red Pearl. 3.) The 2003 RSX can purchased w/ the "Factory Performance" package [rip off!]. Check Edmunds' 2003 Acura RSX review for confirmation. There is no official word for when the RSX Type-R will ... Read More

2002 RSX and Celica Pricing
Written by: beowulf7 on Sep 9, 2002 10:38:10 PM
You shouldn't pay more than a few hundred over invoice for either model. I've seen the Celicas (back in May, in fact!) for just $100 above invoice. welst10, since you're in north NJ, check out Montclair Acura (973-239-3700). I heard they got some good prices up there since they sell by volume. Talk to the Indian salesman there. A friend bought a 2003 TL this past March for ~$27.5k, which at ... Read More

A 2002 RSX-S demo car with 500 hard, test-drive miles on it for MSRP+? Considering that the 2003 models are already on the boat from Japan, one can only conclude that your dealer must have a surplus of Vaseline, and is anxious to use it all on you. If you really like the car and don't mind paying MSRP for it, you might as well get a real "new" one that ... Read More

The 2002 Tiburon
Written by: diploid on Jan 31, 2002 10:09:39 PM
Lacks the visual appeal that the Celica and RSX buyers look for. The Celica represents the extreme-design car, while the RSX has that typical Acura palatable blandness, which is also unique - it hardly looks like a 300M in my eyes. The Tiburon? A little VW here, a little Porsche there, a bit of Ferrari...nothing to really call its own. I think the pros refer to this as "cookie cutting" design. ... Read More

RSX vs. Tiburon
Written by: beowulf7 on Jan 31, 2002 9:38:02 PM
Heck, the RSX has been cross-discussed with many other autos lately on Edmunds' Town Hall (WRX, Celica, C230, Eclipse come to mind). Maybe we should create an RSX vs. Tiburon board. In the meantime, I was just stating that the RSX, given that it is *not* as luxurious as the LS430s of the world (simple price check will prove that), should cost less. I'm not saying the Tiburon (I was referring ... Read More

2002 ITR?
Written by: beowulf7 on Jan 10, 2002 8:46:24 PM
Thanks for the links. The 2002 ITR looks like the RSX; I'm assuming Acura is retaining the Integra name in Japan. The pointed snout of the RSX (2002 ITR) looks nice. Tires look better. But again, from the side, the 2001 Integra had a line; no such line exists in the 2002 picture. I agree on not wanting to see the flamboyant or obviously fake scoops and superfluous curves (latter statement ... Read More

IMO, a car needs more than character lines, and RSX seems to deliver. Tiburon also looks like a nice coupe, but given my behind the wheel experience in various Hyundai cars (Sonata, XG300 and Tiburon, all rental), unless there is something drastically different about it, I might just end up admiring its value, and style about which I admit having a mixed feeling. Honda usually goes for evolutionary simplicity, and I ... Read More

To anyone living in canada- recently my neighbor purchased an Infiniti QX4 in Canada for 8,000 dollars less then the US sticker price, with the same options. I was told the price difference was due to the exchange rate of money. My neighbor said he has spoken with lots of people who have done the same thing. Buggy Engine?
Written by: beowulf7 on Dec 2, 2001 10:44:51 PM
I still find it hard to believe that the brilliant engineers at Acura (I'm not being sarcastic) would not have caught this "bug", especially when considering that the RSX was being developed for years as the successor to the Integra. If it the break-in period is that significant, is there a chance that Acura would have a recall on RSX-S engines? Even more, is it possible that Acura would release a ... Read More

SERIOUS ENGINE PROBLEM

I bought my 2002 Acura RSX Type S several months ago. The car now has 5,000 miles on it and it is currently in the dealership having the engine replaced. According to the Edmunds 2001-2002 Sport Coupe Comparison Test, the RSX-S' turning circle is 38.1', which puts it in 5th place of the 6 sports coupes. RSX-S had a turning circle of 38.1'; VW GTI got the gold at 32.8' while the Eclipse was last at 40.0'. Honda must be run by a committee hell-bent on making it the most banal company on earth. Or all vehicle design and development follows the requests issued by black socks and sandals wearing focus group participants from the Midwest. Either way, Honda's latest offering is the much anticipated Acura Integra replacement, the Acura RSX. For some odd reason the marketing wizards at Acura deemed it wise to sever the last attachment ... Read More

Impressive driving on your part, I'm sure, but I'm not interested in racing a WRX--I'll be busy making money with mine (if I even buy one). Besides, at 3200lbs. the WRX needs to go on a major diet before it'll be competitive with hard-nosed club racers. You might want to keep a watch out for the STi version, though, when it arrives in 2002. Since this is the RSX forum, I ... Read More
