2011 Acura RL 4dr Sedan AWD w/Technology Package (3.7L 6cyl 6A)

Review

Get the non tech package RL and you'll have a great bargain. The new six speed tranny is great, the ride is the best, and the new wheels do cut interior road noise (wind noise doesn't exist below 90), plus all materials are to Acura standards. Drawback: the awful navigation: inaccurate, difficult to learn and glacially slow, with low res and voice command that's hopeless - worse than on my 2005 or 2007. I have a Garmin 1450T which is incomparably better. I'm going to put it on the dash and leave the acura system off. Then it will be a great road car, and just got 26mpg over 1600 road trip

Best Features

ride. The arrested adolescents who work for car magazines want to pull 1.0 g on the skidpad. I want to have an agile and responsive car, but also keep my kidneys attached. Quiet at road speeds. Great stereo. My TL (2007) was much stiffer and noisier, without being a lot more agile. The RL combines the best of both worlds. It's also a handsome car often underestimated because of its ugly younger brother, the new TL. HID headlights are great, but bluetooth is held back by the terrible voice command. Was supposed to have a 'directional mike' this year. It must be pointed in some other direction

Worst Features

Acura was a pioneer in navigation and voice command. How could they have slipped so far. Also, the computer set a transmission code, and the car would only shift into 3rd and 6th. This happened 100 miles from an Acura dealer, so we drove on. The code in P0990, and the solution is put it in sport, shift with the paddles. Next morning at the dealer, car was operating normally. Hope this was a gremlin. Also hope the navigation will stop telling us to make a u turn in the middle of the desert and leading us to restaurants that don't exist.
