And unfortunately, that's pretty much the case: nobody is buying the RL anymore. It's a terrific car, but several things brought it down: •People with nearly $50k to spend wanted a bigger car, a bigger name, rear wheel drive, and a V8. The RL has none of these. All these "improvements" and nothing about reducing the noise in the cabin. Thats a big problem historically with Acuras. My dealer has heard this complaint so many times he won't even record my comments, says they have been reporting that for 2 years. And what about the image of the RL? Did anyone notice the new Accord? Sort of degrades to exclusivity of this model. So it would require at least ... Read More

Rumor has it that it will debut at the 2008 Chicago autoshow which bodes well for the early delivery. The 2008 RL's buildout is in Feb. Buildout is simply the last allocations of the current model.

Don't know about diesel. Probably not until 2010 model year. Maybe earlier but Honda said 2009 is when the diesel is out. Yes it's coming out in the spring. The build out for the current model is in feb. So that means maybe march or april.

I was at an Acura dealer two days ago to look at the RL and the salesman said that the 2009 RL would be released is spring of 2008 and the the new engine is to be the diesel. Do you have any confirmation on this?

Not much info. There is a thread about it already. It will be a facelift. Some body panels will be changed. A new engine, revised navigation system, Hard Drive, a few other features but not much. Maybe increased interior room. New rear seating designs could allow for more legroom in the back seat.

There are plans to release this thing early next year. Possible features include a Hard Drive, and maybe some more new toys. New engine will probably be added. Probably not a v8 or v10 though. I hear only 2 body panels are being changed. Maybe more interior room. Who knows! Any more ... Read More

  • is 2009 the makeover year?

    Written by: zoom2xtn on Dec 8, 2007 3:05:11 AM

If 2009 is when Acura completely redoes the RL I might want to wait but if it is 2011 or so I might want a 2008 with the dealer incentives making it a much better buy than previously. Anyone know their makeover plans? Lee

Acura RL Prices Paid and Buying Experience

  • $2000 dealer cash available

According to Edmunds, there is now $2000 cash available from Acura to dealers on the 2008 RL - effective 11/1 through year-end. Wonder if that amount will rise, considering the very slow sales, the possible total upgrade for 2009, and competition from the new 2008 Accord.

Speaking of Tires... and we've had a number of discussions regarding the OE Michelins on the 2005 RL. I had planned on replacing them at about 50,000 miles with the Michelin All-Season Pilot ultra performance sports. I finally talked to a very smart Acura service manager familiar with tires and he suggested that I reconsider because the tires I want are DIRECTIONAL, which is the first time in 3 years anyone ... I'm in the market for a new luxury sedan. Currently driving a 2005 Acura RL. Would prefer a sporty coupe, but my lifestyle does not allow for that yet:) Today I spoke with our local Jaguar dealer about the XF. They expect the first ones at their showroom in March or April of 2008. Since we live in the snowy part of this country I prefer a car with AWD. The ... Read More

Many rumors about what will be underneath the hood as well as Acura's future styling direction. You don't think you'll have an itch or two in a couple of years wanting the next ... Read More

Will future styling, gadgetology, value, be enough for the Acura brand ?

Wow so the Canada Acura has cooled seats Okay, that's not funny. That is one option I want Acura to start installing. I also want to see the RDX 410 watt 5.1 ELS to be installed on the next Acura TL. A little more ear numbing power ;) Acura does one thing way better than Audi is offering more value for your dollar. Solclie, I remember reading that a V-8 RL will intro aprox. early 2009, and not a moment sooner. Of course, as a surreptitious septuagenarian; I don't remember too good any more; "but trust me." Possibly, hybrid availability, in the cards. All that is wrong with the 06 RL, and life in general, may be tendered in 5 years. But at a price!
