Review

I got the Acura legend about a year and a half ago. I've driven it across country 3 times already. Its a 1990, and when I bought it it probably had 150,000 miles on it, now its in the mid 70's but its been great. The only major problem i've had is the alternator dying. Other than that its just an amazing car, fun to drive. I guess there are a few things, it makes a weird noise when I turn, and i have to replace the breaks now, as well as the exhaust but it does have a lot of miles on it so i guess that kind of stuff can be expected.

Favorite Features

The power everything!! The huge power sunroof. The sport mode that can make it do a hundred plus in a matter of seconds. Couldn't ask for a better car.

Suggested Improvements

Cupholders would be nice... did they not have drinks in their cars in the early 90s? I have to put new power steering fluid in every couple of weeks, or else the wheel gets really stiff.

Review

I bought this car when it had 245,000 miles. I have continued to drive it without any major problems. It now has 279K. The car is 17 years old and still is holding up to the New York winters. Little exterior rust. Interior leather has not held up good through the years, cracked and needs to be covered over. Engine still has some get up and go in it.

Favorite Features

Moonroof, still no leaking! Trunk release button built onto the driver's side door. Interior lamps.

Suggested Improvements

Cupholders as everyone has mentioned.

Got a '90 Legend for our younger son in 2000 with 122K, one owner car. Now we own it and it has 171K. We LOVE this car. Not the fastest or best handling, but that engine still sings and it does not want to run less than 80 on the interstate - she will still do 100 in a snap. Ride, comfort and balance are excellent, and it is so LOW - the lowest 4 door sedan I have seen in a long time. We are looking UP at other people all the time - I like it. Will be a sad day indeed when it comes time to let go of her which is fast approaching. That second timing belt/water pump change is hard to justify for such an old car. The 2.7 liter first series Legend, is one of the best cars ever made, IMHO.

Favorite Features

Reliability, engine, ride, height, interior ergonomics.

Review

I bought the car about 2 years ago with 183K miles. It has given excellent service for a 15 year car. The car is in fair shape. I replaced timing belt a year ago it was the original according to the mechanic. Great car!

Favorite Features

Peppy in acceleration decent gas mileage (26 avg).

Suggested Improvements

Leather, cup holders, better sealing rubber in moon roof (leaks a little when it rains).

I truly think this is still Acura's best car ever. I bought it at 120K in 2001 and have had to do plenty of maintenance, but there was nothing out of the ordinary. It's true, dealer parts are expensive but they last, and there's usually alternate parts for the major systems too. As much as I love the TLs and RLs, I just can't bring myself to let go of this one until it dies, and even then, it'll be a sad day.

Favorite Features

Responsive engine, perfect suspension, reliability, exterior styling, MPG around 24 (5 speed model)

Suggested Improvements

Paint doesn't last as long as some others, cup holders should have been mandatory, even in 1990, and that's about it

I bought my Acura when I decided to go back to school and didnt want a car payment. I bought it outright from the dealer and have to say Ive never been disappointed! For a 15 yr old car, it handles well, accelerates quickly, is good on gas, requires little maintenance (mostly wear and tear stuff) and looks brand new after a wash and wax! Out of all the cars Ive owned, this surprisingly is one of my favorites (and I've had quite a few!) I was thinking of selling and buying a new car, but it's hard to part with something so comfortable and reliable that still looks so good. For a car that I bought on a whim, Ive been pleasantly surprised at what a great value it has been...

Favorite Features

I love the digital displays...great for reminding me of oil changes and scheduled maintenance. Plenty of space and great acceleration. Also love the moonroof! Great for long drives on a spring day...

Suggested Improvements

Needs cupholders and folding back seats!

Review

I purchased the 1990 Acura Legend coupe new; service has exceeded manufacturer's recommendations. This has been the most durable auto I have owned (and that includes some nice cars: Alfa Romeo,BMW, Porsche). One significant repair in 133k (slave cylinder on clutch), even after fairly spirited driving. Strongest points: durability, comfort, quality of design and materials. Weakpoints: acceleration, weight/powerratio, cornering, dealer service costs. Those weaknesses, IMO, do not keep the car from being one I can highly recommend. For what it's worth--.

Favorite Features

Sound equipment--reliable, resonant, good range, sonorous integrity.

Suggested Improvements

Reduce weight wherever possible; increase horsepower/torque (the point is to reduce the weight/horsepower ratio); reduce front and rear overhang.

Yes, it's a very low mileage car, so consider that. But for 15 years it has been flawless -- best car we ever owned. We have had several others in those years, but still have this one because we can't think of selling it.

Favorite Features

Goes like a scalded dog. Comfortable seats, excellent handling.

Suggested Improvements

Add cup holders and the same creature comforts for the front seat passenger as are provided for the driver.

Beautiful car, nice ride, but as with most high end cars, a pricey maintenance bill. But it won't break down and leave you stranded in the snow.

Favorite Features

Power, smooth tranny, easy controls, nice styling, comfortable ride.

Suggested Improvements

Change the rear antenna design; you can't open the trunk or close it without hitting the darn thing. a bit more leg room for the back

I bought it with 45,000 miles on it. It is fun to drive but have had repeated problems with the ABS system. Replaced rear window regulators (left one twice), steering rack, distributor, and numerous other parts over years. Now paint is shot and leather front seats are severly cracked. Spending $1000+ annually. Am replacing it with a 3.2CL-S 6-speed.

Favorite Features

Love the perfformance and styling. Can still put you in the seat. 5-speed is a definite improvement over automatic.

Suggested Improvements

Need bette plastic parts (Like the pieces that break on the rear window regulators).
