Well, this is my saga with the 2001 Cl. Had a new transmission placed under recall in 7/03 (dealership told me it was a new tranny because acura never uses old parts), my car had 28,000 mi. 8/11/08, 2nd transmission is shot with 65,000 mi on my car (37,000 mi on 2nd tranny). I have two different next-door neighbors (either side of my house) with Acura V-6s (one is a 2000 TL and the other is a 2001 CL). One has over 100k miles (TL), and the other has 81,000 miles (CL) and both are on original trannies. Not ALL Acura's have transmission troubles. My wife has a 2001 CL with 13,500 miles. The car is in excellent shape. We are looking for a new car. We are finding the CL has no trade in value. The dealers are aware of the existing transmission problems, and claim the car is hard to resell. about 33,600 on my 02 CL(Base) that I bought in 2001 September. Its still on the original tranny. I know somebody at this place I used to work at and that person had an 02 TL(Base) and the tranny blew at 71K. Anyway no major problems mechanically with my car. Heard a tire blow a month ago and I had to buy a new tire. It blew up right was I was coming onto the Interstate. Thank ... Read More...

Acura has extended the warranty on the A/T and torque converter for all 2001 & 2002. Whether a 2003 CL is covered depends on the VIN. My CL-S (now traded in for an '04 TL) got about 19 mpg in pure city driving, using imperial gallons. So I think that would translate to about 15 - 15.5 mpg using US gallons. So your 14 mpg is a little low, but not too far off. Maybe you have a heavy foot. Read More...
