Proven Automotive Communicator Richard Homan Joins Edmunds.com as Executive Editor of Inside Line
SANTA MONICA, Calif. — December 16, 2004 — Award-winning automotive writer Richard Homan has joined Edmunds.com, the premier online resource for automotive information. Homan serves as Executive Editor of Inside Line, the company's newest editorial product scheduled for launch in January. He reports directly to Kevin Smith, Edmunds.com's Editorial Director.
"I am in a unique, fortunate position to build a dynamic team from the ground up for Inside Line, and Rich was an obvious choice as Executive Editor," said Smith. This is Homan's second run as Executive Editor of an automotive enthusiast publication; from 1992 through 1996 he held the title at Road & Track, having moved up the ranks during his decade-long career at the magazine. His automotive coverage has also appeared in the Detroit Free Press, Motor Trend's Truck Trend, Open Road and dozens of other media outlets.
As a journalist, Homan won the Maggie Award and the Moto Award. He also showed prowess as an advertising executive, winning the The One Show and an International Automotive Advertising Award for his work as Creative Director at the Designory, an advertising agency where Mercedes-Benz was his exclusive client. Later he produced advertising copy for Honda and Toyota.
