Edmunds.com Named Top Independent Auto Industry Influencer on Twitter

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — January 19, 2011 — Edmunds.com, the premier online resource for automotive information, is the top non-automaker — and #3 overall — on the list of the Top 100 Auto Industry Influencers in North America, according to an analysis of Twitter activity conducted by the Automotive Digital Marketing (ADM) Professional Community. Twitter@edmunds earns its ranking by appearing on 60 automotive-themed Twitter lists. The feed falls just behind Ford's and GM's feeds on the ADM ranking.

"Edmunds' position in the ADM ranking reinforces our reputation as a powerful resource for both automotive consumers and industry insiders alike," said Scott Oldham, editor in chief of Edmunds.com. "Social media is a crucial tool in our efforts to connect with the automotive community, and it's gratifying to see those efforts recognized."

Twitter@edmunds isn't the only Edmunds.com property included on the list. The feed for Edmunds' AutoObserver.com comes in at 20th overall, while Edmunds' InsideLine.com places 70th.

Edmunds.com built its social media status by providing timely and informative industry updates for its nearly 12,000 subscribers. In the last 24 hours alone, Edmunds informed its followers about the latest 2011 North American manufacturer projections, and offered a mechanical breakdown of the 2011 Chevy Volt.
