Before joining Edmunds.com, O'Dell served for more than 25 years as an award-winning reporter and editor at the Los Angeles Times and for more than a decade was the Times' automotive industry reporter and editor of its consumer automotive section.
O'Dell recently concluded two years of service on the National Research Council's Committee on Transitions to Alternative Vehicles and Fuels. The group prepared a report for the Department of Energy and the public on options for achieving an 80-percent reduction in automotive transportation's contribution to petroleum consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. by 2050.
O'Dell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from California State University, Fullerton.
